PostHeaderIcon No more digging

Well it has been done, all the trenches have been dug. Yay ! It took a few hours of digging and sore muscles (especially for Katrien ;) ) the next day but it is OVER ! A big thanks to Tom4 and Katrien’s dad for helping out. The next thing is the attic, maybe I’ll do that with my dad in a week or 2, still have to check my schedule.

For your entertainment a few pictures of Katrien’s dad in action ;)

Yes I know, I’ve been slacking what this blog is concerned. I’m starting to be like Dana, oops ! ;) *ducks incoming pillow*

Well let’s see what’s been going on, I’ll start with last weekend. We were going to dig the final trench for the appliances but the weather thought otherwise. It was rainy, windy and even snowy. Especially the last one convinced us to postpone digging for a week. Instead we went shopping … basically this meant that I stood one hour (!) at a fitting cabine while Katrien was trying stuff on to wear at the wedding of Els and Kristof. There were some really sexy outfits (skirts and such), but she picked one of the things she tried on at the beginning … I mean it’s nice and all, but I liked the other ones better (skirt woohoo !), and made me feel kind of pointless for standing there for an hour :) Still, mission successful I guess :)

On Saturday evening we went to Zul Aman in World of Warcraft. I tanked for the very first time, I know this probably doesn’t interest most of you, but for me it was quite an accomplishment. No tanking experience at all and then from day 1 Zul Aman. Yay for me ! :)

On Sunday it was time for another day with the guys. Not counting the Queaso LAN it had been a while ago. We tried out a new board game called ‘Cathedral’. Some guy Kirsten knew came to explain it, so there were 5 of us therefore I had to play together with Arwen because it’s only for 4 players. It turned out to be a pretty good game. I’d love to try it again sometime. I don’t think we’ll buy it, but we can go and play it for free at the Outpost in Ghent, so that’s cool.
After dinner we watched The Mist. It was nice movie but definitely not one of my favorites. The ending was also just plain rude. I’ll refrain from commenting further to avoid giving out spoilers to people who haven’t seen it yet :)

On Monday a historic and unprecedented event has occurred … I made vanilla pudding ! All by myself (well maybe a little bit of help from Katrien ;) ). And it was tasty, go me ! Katrien made a picture of me in action, check it out at the bottom of this post.

The house is giving us a couple of minor issues at the moment. For one, the little wall that was constructed at the kitchen turns out to be too short. So we have to make the kitchen a bit smaller. Also, next week they’ll start with the floors, but they haven’t done the heating yet. We need the heating to be finished so we can lay down the last bit of electricity. The problem with that is, we can’t reach the guy from the construction company … and time is running out. So that’s giving us a bit of stress. Hopefully I can get in touch with him on Monday. In any case, tomorrow is finally the day to dig that last trench ! Keep them crossed for good weather for us ;)

PostHeaderIcon It’s finally here ! Stargate: The Ark of Truth !

I just saw the new Stargate movie: The Ark of Truth ! It was a very good, a typical action packed Stargate story. I hope this is the first of many more to come. It’s sad though, knowing you’ll have to wait a while to see the next thing Stargate SG1. All in all it was a nice finish to the storyline from season 9 and 10. Talking about season 10, I got it on DVD for my birthday from Arwen, Kirsten and Bouw. So yay ! Oh and to everyone: *start commercial rambling* buy the DVDs ! Support Stargate ! *end commercial rambling*. Got to look out for my favorite franchise ;)

Went to eat at my dad’s on Friday. Late birthday dinner. Soup with meatballs, mashed potatoes, fish and cauliflower. Not bad at all. Oh and pie to finish it all off :)

On Saturday it was finally time for the Queaso LAN. It turned out great. The room was full, so I’d say mission accomplished :) There were a few people playing on the Xboxes, which were projected onto 2 bigs screens. On the PC front we mainly played Call of Duty 4. Unfortunately the other promised games didn’t work, that was a bit of a let down to be honest, I was really looking forward to playing Company of Heroes. All in all it was a great day though and everyone was happy :) It lasted until about midnight, so that’s 10 hours, not bad for a first LAN ! 3 people got a prize from Queaso (finger scan device) for winning a tournament. Unfortunately I wasn’t one of those people, but who knows, I can always give my bosses puppy eyes when I start working there ;) I’ve attached some pictures at the bottom of this post.

The house is still moving along nicely. They finished plastering the inside walls. Soon people from the kitchen store can come and take measurements. Next week we are going to dig the final trench so we can hook up electricity. It’s all falling into place :) Pictures can be found here.

PostHeaderIcon Happy birthday to me !

That’s right, I am now 28 years old. Starting to come near the big 30. Scary :)

For my birthday Katrien had a surprise planned. She had invited Kristof, Els, Dimitry and Chan to come over for dinner. Yay ! :) They gave me a gift certificate for the Media Markt. I’m sure I’ll be able to put that to good use :) We had a fun evening, with a nice gourmet (spelling) and we played a bit on the Wii. Even the girls had a go at it, didn’t expect that ! Els and Kristof also brought a board game where you play in teams with funny assignments. Fun times :)

On Saturday we had to go to the house to dig holes and trenches for the sewerage and other appliances. Katrien’s dad and Tom4 came over to help us out and we were glad they did, it was a lot of work ! We managed to complete the sewerage but not the other appliances so that’ll be for in 2 weeks. Right now, I can feel every muscle in my body. I’m looking for volunteers to give me a massage (and for Katrien too I think, we are too sore to massage each other ;) ). Pictures of the holes and trenches can be found here.

On Saturday evening we went to eat at Dimi’s here in Wetteren, also for my birthday (I like a good celebration ;) ). This time with the Toms (1,2 & 4), Wenti and Kaat. They bought me Stargate DVD’s ! My collection is now about halfway I think, I’ll get there eventually :) Dinner was good, but I was very, very tired (sorry about that guys) from the whole digging experience. Still, it was nice having everyone together again :)

On Sunday Kristof and I went to check out the new Mazda 6, nice car ! I’ve been looking at cars all week. That’s one of the fun things about the new job. I have to say though, choosing one is hard. I’ve been doubting between the Mazda 6, BMW 1 and 3 series, the Opel Vectra and some others. I think I made my choice though, so you’ll see in a couple of weeks which one got selected ;)
