Emo shopping => iPhone 3GS is the new precious
First and foremost, the surgeries Katrien and I had went fine. They managed to fix one of the two problems in her wrist. She has to go back in 2 weeks to fix the other one. After that 2 to 3 months of rehabilitation. My surgery went ok as well and I have to go in for my next one on Monday. We’re both a bit bummed by our limited abilities at the moment. Katrien can completely not use her second hand and getting up from the couch makes me feel like I’m 80 years old. Sleeping is a bit of a problem as well, since there’s a constant slight pain I can ignore during the day, but when trying to sleep that doesn’t work out so good. I’m starting to become rather tired. But in general we are fine (TRYING to be optimistic
)
So all this surgery stuff left me somewhat sad … therefore I needed to do some emo shopping and get myself a present. And what present would be better than the new iPhone 3GS ? I got my new precious this morning and she’s charging right now. I’ll be switching to her sometime this weekend. First have to figure out how to safely transfer my contacts and such without it messing up. But fun times ahead !
Oh yeah one more thing, I passed my MCP exam (Microsoft Certified Professional). My bosses really wanted me to take it and it was scheduled for today. Since these things cannot be rescheduled when you’re sick (what’s up with that ?) I went to take it anyways. In my current state it wasn’t the most pleasant experience but on the other hand I’m glad it’s over
They should have subscriptions to surgery
Yup here we go again. Surgery. I went to the surgeon on Friday for a check up and he found that the cause for my problem is a bit different than he first though (in his defense, I don’t think he could have known until the wound was clean). So I have to go in for surgery again. I won’t go into the details here but let’s just say it involves a rope and sounds really unpleasant not to mention painful. And then the week after I’ll have to go in for yet another surgery (since they can’t do it in 1 go). So yeah, fun times ahead.
It’ll be the house of handicap people for a while, on Monday Katrien has to go in as well for her surgery to look how bad the damage to her wrist is. We asked to share rooms. Promises to be a fun day here at Castle Jorn on Tuesday. I probably won’t be able to get up and she can only use 1 hand.
Not much else to say except “wish us luck”.
Want to buy health
Things aren’t going too well in the health department at Castle Jorn. Last Friday I went for a checkup at the doctor’s. The nurses had told me the wound was healing nicely and were already starting to try and close it. So I had high hopes that I was almost rid of this stuff.
No such luck unfortunately. The doctor looked at the wound for 10 seconds and went “but there is a giant cavity still in there !”. To make a long story short, there is still a giant hole behind my wound that the nurses somehow missed (all 4 of them). He had to partly reopen the wound to be able to reach it properly. So back to square one, the nurses have to drain the cavity on a daily basis and we’re back on the pain train. I had tried to go to work right after the checkup on Friday, but had to go home early because of big blood loss. I’m home for another 2 weeks.
Katrien is also not doing so well. She had the checkup I was talking about. The result is that she’s going to have surgery to look how serious the problem is exactly. She’ll probably need some sort of surgery after that to fix it, but we don’t know yet what exactly. Worst case scenario is that she’s going to be home for 3 months, which could mean we have to scratch our USA trip. But that’s still a bit premature.
So … no good news on that front. Things can only get better right ?
To end on a positive note. As most of you might have heard, the new iPhone is coming out in a few weeks. Since I’m the proud owner of a first generation iPhone, I’m looking forward to upgrading to this third generation version. Now let’s hope that the change of law here in Belgium still means I can buy it without having to commit to a phone subscription. Should know in a few weeks.
