PostHeaderIcon Finally out of the house

That’s right, I finally went to Holland to visit Valery. It had been postponed a couple of times with all the operations but I got the go-ahead from the doctor to skip 1 day of nurse treatment. It was great being out of the house for a while, had an awesome weekend.

We wanted to go see the new Harry Potter movie but it was sold out so we went to The Hangover instead. I wasn’t expecting too much but it was a great movie. Had been a while since I had to laugh so much with a movie. I might see it again with the guys. Will go see Harry when the initial rush has passed :)

On the medical front things are going slowly. My wound really isn’t healing so the nurse tried something new today. She put honey in it … apparently it helps the healing process (none of the stuff you get from the store, this is straight from the bees). It’s a bit weird but not too uncomfortable … I wonder how it’ll go. It’s time the wound closes, it’s slowly driving me (even more) insane … so I’m willing to try almost anything at the moment :)

Katrien is slowly improving. Her pain is a bit less now. Normally on Thursday she’ll get a hard plaster around it. She has to keep moving her fingers on a daily basis now even if it hurts. Else she risks losing motor skills in them, but that’s all going good at the moment.

Well I’m off. Today is a national holiday here in Belgium. Going to go outside and enjoy the (semi) sun. Let’s hope the bees don’t chase me with all this honey I’ve got on me ;)

Well we’re back at work. It took quite some getting used to again, waking up at 6am ! But it’s going ok, just at the end of the day it’s a bit painful with the sitting, but nothing too bad.

Katrien on the other hand is the opposite. She just had her main surgery and is slowly getting back on her feet. Slowly being the keyword here, she still has a lot of pain and can’t keep down a lot of food (because of the painkillers). Or it could be since I’m cooking now, I’ll leave that up to your imagination ;) She does have a fairly swollen wrist though and on top of that it’s all wrapped up. We’ve nicknamed it Zombie Paw. I’ll attach a picture to the bottom of the post :)

Other than that I passed by Arwen’s on Sunday. We had a LAN party in his new game room. Conclussion, game room = epic win. The LAN party was … a bit boring. We really need a new cool game. I’ve decided to try and get a tour of the Blizzard offices when I’m in California in September. See if I can’t get those guys to hurry up making Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 (and use the famous puppy eyes for a Starcraft 2 beta key) ;)

With no further delay, the Zombie Paw ! (yes, she still is World of Warcraft addicted, even Zombie Paw couldn’t stop that !)

So last Monday I had another surgery. The doctor was pleased with the process of the week before so he was optimistic that I wouldn’t need a 3rd operation of this kind (which would have been the 4th in general in this little soap). Turns out he was right. I went for a checkup on Friday and everything was fine. So that means that the wound just has to heal now. Don’t get me wrong, that won’t be a no brainer. It’s a giant wound so it’s going to take a long time. Which includes around 3 weeks of them still putting something in it to help disinfect it. Needless to say that’s not very comfortable. Normally I’m home still 1 week and then back to work, I hope this won’t give me too much trouble then.

But you didn’t think the whole health soap at Castle Jorn was finished right ? Indeed it is not. Katrien still has to go into surgery on Friday for her big operation. After that she’ll have one arm in plaster for a long time. She’s already going crazy with her limited movement on that same arm now, so that promises to be a hectic time. After 4 weeks she should get some movement back though, then it’s slowly recovering with kinetherapy (probably a wrong translation … Dana help me out here !).

Other than the health issues I don’t have a lot to say. I’ve been playing around with my new iPhone 3GS (which I love btw) and watching the whole series of Star Trek – Deep Space Nine. It’s not a particularly good series but hey … better than nothing right :)

I think the nurse is almost here, so it’s time to go hide ;) Until next time ! Hopefully with something more spectacular :)
