1 week to vacation
Busy, busy, busy is the keyword. Things are rather hectic at work, we went live with our application in a warehouse in Poland last week. Working through the weekend to get the application stable. I’m counting down to my vacation though, only a week to go
Remember the Windows Home Server I was talking about in my last post ? Well, it’s ordered and should be arriving next week. Setting that up will probably be the first thing I do in my vacation. I’ll post more when I have it. Awesomeness ahead !
On Friday I went to Tom2 and Kaat’s place. Tom1 and Wenti were also present. The theme of the evening was a sort of taste evening, but it turned out to be different than what I expected. They had a pill for everyone that changes your sense of taste, makes everything that’s sour or bitter taste sweet. I have to say it was a strange experience, lemon tasted sweet, yum ! Was fun to try
Didn’t stay very late though, getting up at 6 am is really starting to get to me, I’m tired most of the time, sucks. Will be charging those batteries again soon though
Oh and on a possitive health note, I’m not longer the sweetest man on the planet. The honey did it’s job and we moved to using a salve. Still hoping I’ll be healed in time for the trip to the USA
Well I’m off, there’s a party here in the neighborhood where we can get to know everyone that lives nearby, should be fun ! Barbecue !
Geekiness rising
Looks like I’ve almost made it past the 2 year mark with the blog, yay me ! Only a few days until we’re there
As you’ve noticed it’s not easy keeping the blog up to date on a regular basis, but I think I’ve done a fair job of it so far
Last weekend I went to Valery’s for her birthday. It was great fun. We went to see the new Harry Potter movie in Imax. It was pretty awesome. Of course the whole 3D thing didn’t do much for me but thankfully it was a good movie (not the “shark swims around a bit but it looks cool in Imax” kind of movie I saw last time I went there). Other than that we had some fun with the latest Wii Sports Resort game. The Wii motion plus is kinda cool
I’ve been looking at some new technology gadgets to buy. I got a new battery pack for my iPhone (I play with it far too much, the battery can’t keep up) and next up is a Windows Home Server. That’ll really up my geekiness level
It’s like a NAS but so much more flexible. Easily expandable storage and media streaming, oh yeah baby ! Should be ordering that this weekend with Kristof, he wants one too and we can split shipping
This morning I went to the doc for a checkup. Everything is looking great. With a bit of look I’ll be completely recovered before the grand California adventure. Same with Katrien btw, it’s starting to improve a lot. She should be able to do most things again by the time we’re there. Maybe we can go do that rafting thing after all ! Medically speaking I mean then, chances are slim I’ll be able to convince Katrien
This evening it’s time for Blizzcon (even more geekiness !). Since I can’t go there in the flesh, I settled for the next best thing, the live internet stream. Arwen and the guys are coming over tonight, should be fun
I wonder what Blizzard has up their sleeve in terms of new games ! I can’t wait
Catching up
I’m running a bit behind schedule on the blogging again. So here’s an extra long post !
A little while ago it was the Festival of Ghent here again, just like every year. I only went once though. My dad had given me tickets for Circus Ronaldo, a funny street theater act. I went there along with Katrien, Els and Kristof. The first half was really good, the second one … not so much (although the opinions are divided on that
). In the second half people switch places and while the second group got to see what we had during the first half, we got to see what happened backstage. An interesting concept, but not very spectacular. The first half was good enough to make up for that though ![]()
Afterwards we strolled a bit on the festival, but not much. But you can’t leave the festival without having at least one gin/jenever right ?
The weekend of the 25th I mowed the lawn. It sounds like a simple job, but I can assure you, it was a jungle out there. The grass had just gotten some extra nutrients and even now it’s growing like mad. It’s a shame we don’t have R2M2 yet (grass robot). I’ll give it another go tomorrow maybe.
The rest of that weekend I spent playing Diablo 2 with Kirsten. Such an old game, yet so much fun. Can’t wait for some new Diablo 3 announcements at Blizzcon at the end of the month. Might buy the internet streaming video for that, just so we and the guys can watch the opening speech. I’ll bet it’ll give me goosebumps
The past weekend Katrien and I went to Ghent to book our hotels for the first and last nights in California. We spent a bit more in San Fransisco so we could be close to all the sights. Afterwards we headed to Geert & Stephanie for a barbecue. The weather favored us and the rain that was forecast didn’t arrive ! On top of that Geert had stocked up on dark Leffe, a beer I like. I drank 3 in about an hour I think. For people who know me I don’t think I’ll need to explain the effect it had on me. And for those of you who don’t … maybe it’s better if you don’t know
(but for the record … I wasn’t extremely drunk or anything :p Don’t think such bad thoughts !)
On the medical front things are still progressing. Even though it’s not going as fast as I’d like I have to admit, the honey is helping. The wound has closed a lot more in the past 2 weeks. Going to work is sometimes really uncomfortable but since the honey helps I’m not going to complain (too much) about it. There’s still an area that’s not healing so well, but I’m hopeful. Katrien’s hard plaster is coming off on Thursday and her finger movement is improving rather well. So looks like we’re climbing the hill of good health again instead of tumbling off
Told you it was going to be a long post
