It’s that time of year again
Let me start by wishing everyone Merry Christmas (a bit too late) and a Happy New Year. I hope you are all having a wonderful time
Myself, I have a little vacation. Week and a half (which is almost over actually) to be precise. I celebrated Christmas evening at my dad’s house, which was packed with relatives. Food was good but we left before dessert. Katrien had to work during the day and she was really tired. It was also very loud
My main entertainment during this vacation has been Dragon Age Origins, an old fashioned RPG. I love the story line, it sucks you right in. So that’s been filling most of my vacation. You should check it out if you have the chance.
Other than that I went to Valery’s for 2 days. We went to see Avatar again, it’s really an awesome movie. If you haven’t seen it yet you should. And go see it in 3D, people keep telling me how good it is (darn them !
). I introduced Val to Dragon Age and I have a feeling she’ll continue playing it. However that wasn’t the game that got us captivated. We spent a lot of time playing Trine, a simple platform game on the PS3 that you can buy online for less than 10 Euro. It’s very beautiful and has a nice puzzle element to it. I think we’re close to finishing it.
Now for another yearly tradition, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas if I didn’t buy a huge present for myself now would it ?
I wasn’t planning on it really, I swear ! Normally I would get my dad’s old surround system to use at Castle Jorn. Unfortunately they didn’t work with my setup (as they are originally PC speakers). So I ordered a whole new surround system which set me back quite a bit (but not in the ridiculous expensive category though as some people wanted to convince me to do
). I’ll be using my dad’s old system for my pc, so it’s not a total loss. I just hope the neighbors don’t complain
Christmas time
First some good news, the surgery went fine and I don’t have any pain, so yay for that
Now let’s hope this really was the last time !
The Christmas shopping I talked about went rather well also, we found all the presents we needed. So we’re all set for the holidays. Katrien and I won’t really celebrate it in a big way though. On Christmas evening we’ll go to my dad’s where my family is gathering for some food. Katrien will have worked that day though so we won’t stay long. She started to work again last week with 2 night shifts and it’ll take a while before she gets back into it. But so far so good.
The LAN was also great fun. COD6 didn’t give us too many issues, just the occasional disconnect. Almost level 50 ![]()
Talking about games, I got some free time for Lord of the Rings Online so I’ll give that one another go. Should entertain me for a few days during my vacation which starts on Thursday.
Last week it was Tom1′s birthday and Tom2 and I went over to surprise him. A guys evening so to speak. We first went to eat Thai which was quite good (but not as good as the Thai I normally go to). Afterward Tom1 wanted to see Avatar. I was a bit reluctant to agree because it would be very late then and there was snow expected. But I’m very glad he convinced me though, the movie was awesome. We went to see it in 3D which does nothing for me, but even then the 2D view was amazing. And the Toms were all “wow” on the 3D part so it must have been good. I’ll probably go see it again even !
Twitter and weekend stuff
Hello all ! So what’s been going on in the Land of Jorn lately ?
First, I’ve joined the masses on Twitter. Let’s see what all the fuss is about. If you’re on Twitter you can follow me on the username JornAudooren (original no ? Darthy was taken … snif).
Last Friday I went to an event with Scott Guthrie. Which is one of the Gods of the .NET Framework (geeky programmer stuff). It was pretty awesome, that guy is really an example to Microsoft what the rest of their managers should be like. His involvement with the community is legendary. I saw a lot of interesting stuff and my nerd side was also satisfied. Normally Scott wears a red polo shirt when he gives a presentation so we all put on a red shirt saying “I’m a fan of the Gu”. It was awesome
In the weekend I went over to Valery’s. We did a bit of cocooning so to speak. Watched a couple of movies (Hoodwinked, Up and Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog) and played a couple of games on the Wii. Some funny stuff with that new “Just Dance” game. And the new Wii Fit Plus was also pretty fun ! Only a slight muscle pain in the arm so that’s always good
In the coming weekend Katrien and I will be doing some Christmas shopping. Maybe even for ourselves, hehe
I don’t need a lot of presents though, let’s hope it’s not too busy. On Sunday I’m going over to the guys for some COD6 LAN gaming. Should be fun !
Unfortunately there’s also some bad news. I have to go back into surgery on Monday. I had really hoped I was done with that but I guess not. It’s nothing major, but enough that I have to go under a complete anaesthesia
again. Normally I should be back on my feet on Tuesday though, let’s keep them crossed for that …
